Online Courses Available For FCAT Toppers

Elementary school students who perform well in their FCAT reading or math exams are eligible for advanced online courses, according to a new state requirement. Fourth or fifth grade students, who score at least 4 out of 5 in these exams, would get the online courses to enhance their knowledge and understanding.
However, given the extremely advanced level of these online courses, the question arises whether the elementary school children would be able to grasp the material. The executive director of elementary education, Chris Sandy, stated that these high-performing students may possibly be denied the advanced online courses, if administrators concede that the content is beyond the student's ability. The students also have to get an 'A' in the subject area in which they wish to take the online courses.
